The Name
am-be-ROH-zia
Like every good story, the name Amberósia has layers to dive into.

“Ambrosia” was the food (and possibly drink) of the Greek gods on Mount Olympus. Paired with Nectar, it was the fuel of every good divine party up on that lofty peak. And “divine” it is indeed, for the word in Greek - αμβροσία - stems from “άμβροτος”, meaning “divine” or, more specifically, “immortal”…
Thus, Ambrosia was the substance that granted eternal life, that which only belongs to the gods. Now we’re definitely not suggesting wine possesses these health benefits, but rather the feeling-in-the-moment of a great evening, where time stands still and joy feels like it could last an eternity…

Very interesting, but why have you then added an “e” into the company name?
This is the blend of “amber” and “rosé” - a nod to the orange and pink of the wine world.
In Georgia, the birthplace of wine itself, “orange” wine is actually called “amber-colour”: “karvisperi ghvino” (ქარვისფერი ღვინო). So this is a nod to the ancient heritage of the drink before it came to the Greeks.
Orange/Amber and Rosé map out the “alternative” quadrants of wine colours (besides Red and White), reflecting Amberósia’s mission to promote the more niche and unsung heroes of the wine world. But don’t worry if these are not your style - red wine and white wine are still core parts of the agenda in any tasting.

Just checking - amber is a sort of gold colour, right?
Yes - amber is the colour of the campfire around which tales are told; mixed with hues of pink, it’s also a glorious sunset and the following sunrise, symbolising the rebirth we all experience every day.
Amberósia stands for the values of sustainability, including regenerative agriculture and nature-friendly practices across the supply chain. We don’t need every glass to have an “organic” label on the bottle, or be “natural” in style, but we like to see a philosophy in harmony with nature. In short: great-quality wine that can be made and enjoyed today, at the sunrise of tomorrow, or long into the many sunsets of the future.

And amber is the gemstone they use in Jurassic Park to bring dinosaurs back to life?
Amber is a tree resin fossil that is worked into a gemstone! But yes - like the trapped dino DNA in Jurassic Park, a bottle of wine acts as a time capsule that brings to life a moment frozen in the past, when the earth once expressed itself for a year (a vintage) and now brings forth its wonder for you to enjoy.

Got it! Finally, why the accent on the “ó”?
It’s a spark! Not just a spark from flames, either. The word “electricity” comes from Greek élektron (ήλεκτρον), which is simply the word for the amber gemstone.
This is because when electricity was “discovered” in the 17th century, it was thought to resemble the property of attraction that rubbed amber possesses, or the glimmer of sunlight that appears within it.
This spark can represent human creativity from the stories we tell, or the crackle in the atmosphere at a good wine-based gathering: whether romantic, social, or individually contemplating the universe. The amber-electric spark is there.
