  • Learning about the 'lesser-known' parts of the world of wine

What is Amberósia 'about'?

The mission is simple: to teach people – in a fun way - about the wonders of the 'lesser-known' parts of the world of wine, and to be a guide for an evening through the history and mythology of those same regions.

Think of it as a virtual tour guide – with a glass in your hand!

Indigenous grape varieties: Chardonnay, Merlot, Rkatsiteli, Pinot Noir, Encruzado, Xinomavro…

If you only recognised some of the above names – that’s okay! The world of wine is so full of incredible and interesting grape varieties that are native to their local region, but which most people have never heard of.

The 'international varieties' (Chardonnay, Merlot etc) dominate the global wine market and popular imagination. Holding nothing against that, but there is so much more out there: such a rich kaleidoscope of flavours and traditions, just waiting to be discovered and enjoyed. In short – so many people don’t know what they’re missing!

Amberósia puts a friendly spotlight on these unsung heroes: almost all the wines we showcase will be a local native variety. So, next time you’re on holiday in, say, Greece, you’ll know your Assrytiko from your Vidiano, your Agiorgitiko from Xinomavro. Γειά μας!
